New Casino Able to Open in West Va.
A new casino on the Greenbrier resort is slated to open this week in West Va. The casino will feature “three-card poker, and memorabilia of former NBA star Jerry West.
The casino plans to open with table games this week pending approval from the West Virginia Lottery Commission, Greenbrier spokeswoman Lynn Swann said.
Resort officials also planned to open Prime 44 West, a cafe serving steakhouse favorites, seafood and southern-style desserts. "IT IS VERY exciting," Swann said. "It's only a great time to be here."
West Virginia Lottery officials were on the Greenbrier this week to assist hotel staff and plan to schedule a walk-through of the casino, Lottery spokeswoman Nancy Bulla said.
"We keep in mind that the hotel want to offer limited games by the primary of October," Bulla said. "But as a regulatory agency we need to be absolutely certain that each I is dotted and T is crossed under the statute and rules and regulations governing The Greenbrier's casino operation.”
